Whether it’s night or day, whatever time of year, whatever month of the year, life in Dubai is amazing. It’s amazing enough to make a perfect story for a Dubai travel photographer such as myself. During my years of employment in Dubai, I was inspired daily to explore the United Arab Emirates in every direction Sheikh Zayed Road would take me, and I knew better than to leave my camera at home. My endeavor was always to capture the distinctive beauty of this world hub city.
Stay tuned as I will reveal the top spots to visit for the memories of a lifetime in this little guide of Dubai Photography.
Best Places for Photography Dubai
For those interested in photography or just looking for inspiration, discovering Dubai is like excavating a little-known treasure. Even if you have spent some time in this city, you may have missed some great spots. If you are planning a trip to Dubai, here are some of the most spectacular places to go for photography.
The Burj Khalifa is a marvel of engineering and architecture and is also the tallest building in the world. It has become an iconic symbol and one of the most photographed buildings in not just Dubai, but all around the world. If you travel to Dubai, make every attempt to experience the magnificence of The Burj Khalifa by visiting At The Top.
Burj Al Arab
One of the most photographed and famous attractions in Dubai would be this luxurious hotel on its own artificial island. Majestic Burj Al Arab should on the list of the seven wonders of the world. From above, it resembles a billowing sail, or a ship’s sail reflecting the multicoloured sky. Burj Al Arab is one of the best locales for photography enthusiasts or professionals in Dubai.
Dubai Desert Photoshoot
Have you ever been to a desert in the United Arab Emirates? The bright colors and patterns of the expansive desert create stunning scenes that entice people from every corner of the earth. My Dubai desert photoshoot was an amazing experience for me as a photographer, and it can be for you too!
Dubai Sunset Photos
One day while gazing from my 40th floor apartment balcony as the sun went down, I thought to myself this is a great opportunity to combine two things I love: catching the sunset live and photography. The Dubai sunsets are so unique. Alluring colors of the sunset match perfectly with the desert landscape. There is no better time to cast your worries aside and relax. The sunset over the skyline of Dubai is spectacular.
Most “Instagrammable” Places in Dubai
Dubai is more than just a modernized city, it’s the Time Square of the Middle East. There are many areas of the urban hotspot that attract photographers from around the world. Dubai offers an engaging and immersive experience that feels a bit like stepping into a movie scene. So why not take advantage of the city’s beauty and explore the most instagrammable places in Dubai?
Dubai Miracle Garden
Dubai Miracle Garden is an astonishing man-made wonder that can be a great start on your journey of this magnificent city. It is comprised of 10 distinct, walled gardens that represent different geographical areas, ranging from Europe to Asia and America to Africa. This is one of the great Dubai Instagram spots. For instance, there is even an Emirates plane completely covered in flowers, and other surprises to be discovered!
To create a new landmark for Dubai, the Dubai Frame is an architectural iconic structure that will allow you to see all of Dubai from one place. It provides an exciting and exclusive experience for visitors and residents of the city. Imagine the view from the top of the Dubai Frame. Now imagine the beautiful panoramic photographs of this city.
Interesting Photo Spots in Other Parts of UAE
Whether you’re planning a city break, family holiday, beach vacation or business trip, the UAE is the best place for you. The country attracts visitors from all over the world with its unique landscapes, rich culture, and welcoming attitude. There is plenty more to the UAE than skyscrapers and shopping malls.
Abu Dhabi Photography
Abu Dhabi is the most picturesque city for tourists and those who love photography, as it is filled with landmarks and unique places you will want to see and take pictures of. One of the most interesting spots in Abu Dhabi is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. It’s not only a place of worship, but a cultural and architectural treasure of the UAE.
Discover Sharjah – a beautiful and coastal emirate located just an hour from Dubai. If you want to explore outside the city of Dubai, this is one place you go. The best part of my time in Sharjah was a camel ride in the desert. There are many camel farms around as camel herding is still a full-time profession in the UAE. You can also enjoy adventure sports like riding 4 wheelers in the Sharjah desert.
Two must see locations when visiting Sharjah are the Al Madam Ghost Town, an abandoned city buried in sand and run by camels, and the terrain of the Mleiha desert, where you can find wild goats roaming the mountains.
Ras al Khaimah
Ras al Khaimah is also an attractive travel destination in the United Arab Emirates. This rapidly developing emirate offers a mixture of modernism within a coastal and desert setting. It’s inviting vibe and magnificent landscapes are the reason it’s on everyone’s travel bucket list.
When visiting this Emirate of UAE be sure to watch the sunset over the wetlands of Ras Al-Khaimah. This was one of my all-time favorite places to photograph in the United Arab Emirates. And equally impressive is the drive to the top of Jebel Jais Mountain, the UAE’s highest peak. From the top you can see breath-taking vistas and those who are thrill seekers and adventurers can experience the wildly popular 2.8km long zip line.
Located on the Gulf of Oman, Fujairah is the only capital city in UAE located on the countries east coast. The city of Fujairah is industrial, however its location on the foothills of the Hajar Mountains make it a fantastic place to shoot pictures. There are many unique places to photograph in Fujairah as well, like the Al Rafisah Dam which is a sought-after tourist attractions for locals and foreigners in the Emirates.
The Empty Quarter
Covering over 250,000 square miles, the sand desert covers almost one-third of the Arabian Peninsula, including UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. People often remember this area because British Explorers, including Wilfred Thesiger, well documented it. He crossed over the desert several times and wrote a book including amazing photographs called Arabian Sands. Today you can see paved roads have been added to this seamless sea of sand. However, the majestic and undeniable beauty of the landscape is still there. The Empty Quarter desert is an absolute must-see destination for tourists visiting the UAE.
